William J. Carter, MD

Description

William J. Carter, MD, FACP, practices hospital medicine at Ochsner Health. He received his medical degree from the University of Alabama School of Medicine. Following medical school, he completed his Internal Medicine residency at the State University of New York Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn. Dr. Carter is a senior physician who has worked with Ochsner since 2008. Academically, Dr. Carter is on the faculty for the Internal Medicine Residency Department and the University of Queensland Ochsner Clinical School for medical students. He was the medicine clerkship director for over ten years, serves as the school's faculty advisor for the Wilderness Medicine Student Interest Group and is an instructor for the Stop the Bleed program. During his free time, Dr. Carter enjoys scouting with his children, picking up trash in his neighborhood, volunteering and sailing.
