Description

Dr. Hunter Starring is a pediatric orthopedic and spine surgeon at Ochsner Children’s. A native of Mandeville, Louisiana, he earned his bachelor’s degree in biological engineering from Louisiana State University and his medical degree from LSU Health Sciences Center - New Orleans. Dr. Starring completed his orthopedic surgery residency at Ochsner Medical Center, followed by a fellowship in pediatric orthopedic surgery with a focus on pediatric spinal deformity at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City. Dr. Starring specializes in the comprehensive treatment of pediatric spinal conditions, utilizing the most advanced techniques available, including spinal fusion, osteotomies, MAGnetic Expansion Control (MAGEC) rods, and Vertebral Body Tethering (VBT). In addition to spine care, Dr. Starring treats a wide range of pediatric orthopedic conditions, including trauma and fractures, foot and ankle disorders, limb length discrepancies and deformities, as well as neuromuscular conditions such as cerebral palsy and spina bifida. His research primarily focuses on clinical outcomes in scoliosis surgery. He has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications and presented his work at local, regional and national conferences. He is an active member of both the Pediatric Orthopaedic Society of North America (POSNA) and the Scoliosis Research Society (SRS). Outside of medicine, Dr. Starring is deeply involved in his community. He enjoys spending time with his wife, their dogs and cat, and he is passionate about LSU football, golfing, hiking and skiing.
